Why?
Because the Omicron even though it is more infectious than anything else seen on earth as a virus before, it also manifest more like a flu or cold or no symptoms at all for most people.
As Covid turns more into a flu or cold like ailment for most people it stops being as fatal as the delta Virus has been worldwide.
Though it's true other variants might revert to symptoms more like Delta in the future. However, it is more likely I would say looking at the 1918 Spanish Flu outbreak that killed 50 to 100 million people on earth then that we might be seeing the beginnings of the end of this virus as the world killer it has been before now.
So, it is possible that this is the last winter where will will see as many people dying from Covid.
This is a very hopeful sign for the future and the long term regarding variants of Covid-19.
In other words the 1918 Spanish flu that killed between 50 and 100 million citizens of Earth ended basically after 2 years killing everyone all over the earth.
This virus might be in the ending phase of it's terrorizing earth too (at least the way it has been doing since 2019 in China.)
