My son used to live and go to college in the basic Palm Springs area about 10 years ago now while getting his bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing then. So, I have been many times to Palm Springs when it was over 120 degrees up to 125 degrees there. Mostly you don't want to get out of your car or truck when it's this hot. And even after a movie that let's out at midnight when it is still around 100 degrees or more at midnight at The RIVER mall, you want to run your air conditioner in your car to cool it down before you even sit in your car or truck even at midnight.
It's important to know while in 120 degrees to 125 degrees or more what you can survive or else you won't. Most people who die in these conditions are not locals to California because most people who live in California know all this.
You can only survive temperatures this high when it isn't humid but then again the desert humidities are seldom this time of year above 10% to 20% humidity so that is often survivable. But, at temperatures like this when humidities get above 50% like during a thunderstorm people can die outside quite easily during July, August and September especially when it is most likely to have days above 120 degrees in the Palm Springs area.
