Please read above internet article on how 2% of children in the U.S. are homeless. (1 in 50).
One of my goddaughters is now about 30 and has two masters degrees in social work. Her mother died on the streets when she was 12(she froze to death). Luckily, she had been removed from her mother by the state just before this happened and placed with her grandfather.
I looked up how many children there are in the United States. The statistic above of 1 in 50 or 2% I'm not sure if it is based upon zero through age 18 or what.
Age Structure (2008 estimate):
0-14 years: 20.1% (male 31,257,108 / female 29,889,645)
Source(s):

However, based upon 31,257,108+29,889,645=61,146,753 and 2% of that would be:1,222,935 approximately.
So this means that a minimum of 1,200,000 or 1.2 million children under 14 (or 18) and probably more than this are homeless right now throughout the United States.
What is necessary might be to find a way to feed them and educate them so they will be an asset to society. So even though their parents might stay homeless for a while at least the children will be fed and educated.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
