Bubble of methane triggered rig blast
To read full news article click on "Bubble of methane" directly above this line but not the very top one.
If I fully understand this article the methane came up the line from the ocean and because of its extreme pressure blew off all the seals at the surface and was set off by some kind of metal against metal spark on the surface or spontaneously just blew up when it touched the air.
This kind of accident is the same thing that kills coal miners underground in the mines all the time. Either the methane pushes out the air and the men suffocate or it explodes underground and kills them. However, this is the first time I have ever heard of this kind of accident on a deep water oil rig.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
