Chromebooks are built and optimized for the web, so you get a faster, simpler and more secure experience ... end quote from Google: My son who is now a nurse but was a Computer Tech in his 20s building computers and installing advanced systems in businesses said that the "Chromebook" is for people who only want to go online and to have all their information there. In this way if your chromebook was stolen all your information would be out on Chrome. However, privacy is more of an issue. But if you are worried about your computer being stolen like if you were in college maybe a Chromebook might be a solution for those of you insecure about your computer being stolen. So, your information is not stored on the Chromebook it is stored in Google Servers. So, like I said if your Chromebook was stolen you haven't lost anything but the Chromebook itself and if you have insurance on it then you haven't lost anything. However, if Google Chrome Servers go down for any reason and they lose your information you might want it backed up on a home computer or with an external hard drive that you put in a safe place, safe or safety deposit box or something like that. |
