Africanistan is the cynical new name used by some in the western world who are dealing with the problems in Mali. Since Mali has about 7 countries on it's borders Mali is pivotal to stopping Islamic Terrorism in it's tracks. However, it appears France and most other NATO countries including the U.S. now believe that forays into this problem should be weeks instead of years and likely drones will also now be used in Mali to target terrorist leaders. Already the U.S., Canada and Britain are assisting France with air transport, and Intelligence gathering throughout the region.
It also appear many of the weapons being used in Mali by Terrorists were bought from the Tuaregs who were allied with Moamar Qaddhafi in Libya before his fall and assassination. When they returned to their homelands in Mali, Terrorists bought or stole many weapons from the Tuaregs. Then after a time the Terrorists turned on the Tuaregs and drove them out of Mali while keeping many of the weapons for themselves.
