I used to live in Hawaii but it's important to note that it is about 3 times more expensive to have a similar lifestyle to California and if you are used to being free to drive 400 miles in a weekend like I was growing up in California island fever can be a problem. But other than that Hawaii is pretty fabulous as a place to live, especially if you like surfing, snorkeling or sailsurfing (sailboarding) or other water sports. Also, there is an over 14,000 foot volcano on the big Island of Hawaii with skiing and a 10,000 foot Crater called Haleakala on Maui. So, depending upon which altitude you choose to live at there are many climates at different altitudes in Hawaii.
