As an intuitive I realized last night that what humanity of earth is doing right now is not sustainable. I think studying about how bumblebees are dying out in the Midwest of America must have triggered a useful response. If we here in the U.S. cannot prevent bumblebees from going extinct that pollinate all wild plants in the midwest of the U.S. then How bad is it in the rest of the world?
What has been best about the U.S. up until now has been Efficiency, democracy and a lot of natural resources. However, with population levels around the world being what they are now sustainability has been lost.
What is needed for sustainability? Primarily, nations need to grow enough food and then they need to be able to transport the food to where it is needed. However, it has broken down both in the cost of transporting food and the capacity of growing food in relation to how many people there are presently on the planet to feed. The cost of oil prevents the transportation of food at a reasonable enough price to actually feed 100% of humanity. When something like this happens governments in poorer nations begin to fall. If ANY government cannot feed it's people and provide jobs that government is in the process of collapse or reformation. Though the U.S. government is not in danger of collapse about 50% of the nations of earth Are in danger of collapse or have collapse already, especially in the middle East and Africa. This is because nations in the middle east and Africa in general that do not have enough natural resources like oil almost certainly will collapse either now or in the near future of the next 20 to 50 years.
The U.S. is not in danger of collapse because we still have so many natural resources and an efficiently designed government and the people still have rights and generally enough food (any way they can get it) to stay alive. Because most people aren't in danger of starving our government will continue forward even if there are major demonstrations and even riots some places. Other countries especially in the middle East and Africa may not continue to exist as viable nations.
But, if something so basic as keeping bees and bumblebees alive which allow all humanity to pollinate food so they can eat cannot properly be addressed even in the U.S. how ridiculous is humanity at present? If we are not efficient enough to keep bumblebees and bees alive which are absolutely necessary for everything humans eat then the human race isn't going to be around much longer is it?
And if you couple this fact in the U.S. and that the bumble bee and honey bee problem is even worse in other places on earth, soon no one will be able to grow food if the honeybee and bumblebee problem gets any worse.
If the primary cause of honeybee and bumble bee problems are insecticides which weaken them and other pollutants, then if humanity doesn't change it's ways it soon will be no more.
What is that old saying? "For the want of a nail the shoe was lost. For the want of a shoe the horse was lost. For the want of a horse the rider was lost. For the want of a rider the nation was lost."
Only this time it isn't a nail, shoe, horse or rider, it is simply honeybees and bumblebees and without them there is no pollination and without pollination there is no food and everyone will starve on earth.(including all humans and creatures that live on land).
I suppose as a last resort technological nations could manufacture little bee drones to pollinate everything but isn't that sort of pathetic and ridiculous too? I suppose if it keeps life on earth going it might look less ridiculous every day if all the bees and bumblebees are gone from earth already someday soon.
Later: I recently discovered that another potential cause of bees and bumblebees dying is Genetically modified foods. They are possibly having a reaction to "not normal" pollen. Humans might be able to deal "sometimes or barely" with Genetically modified foods but likely other species cannot adapt and just get sick and die. Since Bees are a necessary species for every living creature in land or air like birds, all living things won't eat if bees don't pollinate. No bees or bumblebees no pollination.
