No tsunami threat for Hawaii after 7.0 quake recorded in Alaska
The earthquake was reported at 6:25 a.m. (HST) and it was centered about 55 miles southeast of Adak, Alaska.
The Alaska Earthquake Information Center says in a statement that the quake was felt strongly in Adak and Atka, and shaking lasted up to one minute.
There have been no immediate reports of damage.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat for Hawaii.
