Joe Pentangelo ,a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey that operates JFK, tells The Associated Press that JetBlue Flight 671 reported the bird strike and diverted to JFK as a precaution.
The Airbus A320 was headed for Florida's Palm Beach International Airport when it came into contact with the bird about 25 minutes after take off, Federal Aviation Administration officials says in a statement to the New York Daily News.
Flight 671 landed at JFK around 9:55 a.m. ET, according to AP. JetBlue tells the news agency that passengers were given the option of catching another flight from New York or to be taken back to Westchester County Airport.
