Tornadoes in California are not like the ones in the Midwest. However, in the 34 years I have lived in Northern California off and on there have been tornadoes big enough to lift the roofs off of barns and greenhouses but none big enough to tear apart a real home that people live in. But, sometimes they do happen. Also, sometimes there are water spouts as well on the ocean. However, if it can lift the roof off a barn or greenhouse it is big enough to harm people if they are outside wandering around at the time.
