What actually protects the U.S. from being taken over?
Yes. It is our nuclear weapons, our soldiers and our weapons. But, what is the last line of defense should anything or everything fail for some reason?
The last line of defense is actually citizen soldiers and snipers picking off an invading army one by one much like we did during the Revolutionary War.
We have 100 million Americans armed and ready to do just that here in the U.S.
However, then we have people who don't want people to have guns at all. And they get hysterical every time someone shoots a lot of people.
However, that is only one side of the story.
IF you look at the world right now, Putin is poised to move across Europe possibly like Hitler did and like Napoleon did before that. (Napoleon and Hitler had some ideas in common, especially failing from trying to take over Russia). (20 million Russians died mostly from Starvation when Hitler tried to take Russia the last time).
However, if you look at what Putin has already done to Crimea and is about to do (maybe) to Ukraine and then may do to all the other previous Iron Curtain Countries and then may do to all of Europe (if no one stops him). What is to stop Putin but pieces of paper? What is an economic sanction but Money which at this point is only pieces of paper?
If Putin has an army and a large supply of weapons, the only thing that might stop him is more weapons. And what if he bluffs and says he will nuke us? Do we then cry because we gave up all our rights to own weapons here in the U.S.?
I think at this particular point in human history you have to look at the people who want to disarm America and you have to say, "What are these people thinking?" "Do they live in a fairy Tale?" Haven't they watched the news lately?
We are at war no matter what fairy tale any of us live in. And until Putin does something else (not likely) we will be at war for years to come even if it is another "Cold War" with small proxy wars like Syria and Ukraine that we are fighting either through paper (money) or through (mercenaries) which the U.S. and Europe can disavow to prevent a nuclear war just like Putin is disavowing his mercenary army in Ukraine right now.
But, giving up our second amendment rights now is sort of suicidal as a nation don't you think?
Also, all Putin would have to do is to curtail all oil and gas supplies to all of Europe for a month and then mow through all of Europe with tanks and missiles and small nuclear weapon for a few weeks and all of Europe would essentially be gone while we try to sanction him some more.
Remember, Putin is an oil producer. Russia can cut off 30% of Europe's fuel and mow across Europe in a few days or weeks with their army and Air Force while Europe prepares without enough fuel.
The U.S. is a fuel producer too, but we are at least an ocean away with all this fuel or more.
Nothing would stop Putin from mowing through all of Europe if Nato doesn't have enough fuel there already but a lot of nukes. And this would just make the whole of Europe and maybe the world uninhabitable.
