I sort of enjoyed "Inside Man" tonight on CNN. He met with Ray Kurzweil who is Bill Gates favorite Technology prophet (he predicted the Internet 20 years before it happened). He is about my age (I think 65 or 66 or so) (Ray Kurzweil) and is interested in humans never dying and appears to be in touch with how "Living as long as you want to" might happen with technology. Have you noticed how many Hollywood types are living longer and longer and still have all their marbles into their 80s and beyond. It isn't happening with all of them of course but it is happening to enough people who are still relatively okay in their 80s and 90s. And I think my generation of baby boomers who are presently in their 60s or early 70s you are going to see a lot of them make it into their 100s with all their marbles and good physical mobility from hip replacements and knee replacements along the way. (my wife is having a knee replacement in June) which I'm incredibly grateful for because her normal optimistic sweet self hasn't been as optimistic or as sweet because of being in pain 24 hours a day even with Advil a couple of times a day for the worst pain. So, sleeping through the night has been the hardest things for her.
So, in the past people just suffered while needing knee and hip replacements and often eventually just died of the pain or were confined to a wheel chair or crutches for life. However, now there have already been 600,000 to 800,000 successful knee replacement surgeries just here in the U.S.
So, this is how life is being extended for many human beings on earth. However, there are thousands of others ways life is being extended for humans every day and likely this will just continue to increase throughout this century and beyond.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
