When I was in Dharamshala, India in Early 1986, I and my family were taken by Gelugpa monks to see Ling Rinpoche. Though they say he passed away in 1983 his body was still in meditation (not decomposing) when I (met) him in January 1986. My father had passed away the summer of 1985 and so to experience someone "meditating" on a table and not decomposing and sending back heaven realms through his body (I am a Clairvoyant) and gifted in this way was overwhelming for me.
All my life I had thought people were born, they lived, they died. Here was something completely different than that. Somehow this was "More" and I realized that and finally I went outside and cried in amazement and realization. My life was forever changed by this. He was meditating in Maitreya Mudra which is a teaching mudra where the right hand is raised in blessings to all life and the left hand is in his lap like Guatama Buddha. He was the Senior Teacher of the present 14th Dalai Lama.

Kyabje Yongdzin Ling Rinpoche (1903 - 1983
[1]) was a
Tibetan buddhist scholar and
teacher.
Born in
Tibet, northwest of
Lhasa,
[1] he was recognised as the 6th Ling Trül, became the senior tutor to the 14th
Dalai Lama[2] and the 97th
Ganden Tripa.
[2] The Ganden Tripa is the spiritual head of the
Gelugpa Sect, the largest sect of
Tibetan Buddhism.
Kyabje Ling Rinpoche was the Ganden Tripa for about 14 years. He served
at the request of the 14th Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people for the
longest period that anyone sat on the Ganden throne. Together with
Yongdzin
Trijang Rinpoche, he is considered to be a root guru of the 14th Dalai Lama. Kyabje Ling Rinpoche died in 1983.
[2]
Prior to Kyabje Ling Rinpoche, three earlier incarnations of Ling Rinpoche were tutors for previous Dalai Lamas,
[3] including the 13th, the 12th and the 6th Dalai Lamas.
[3]
Three incarnations of Ling Rinpoche were also Ganden Tripas. Over many
years, the Ling Rinpoche incarnations founded many monasteries in Tibet
and taught students in every sect of
Tibetan Buddhism. Many of the monks in Ling Khangtsen come from these monasteries.
The current incarnation of Ling Rinpoche is the spiritual head and leader of Ling Khangtsen.
[3] He was born in India in 1985
[3] and is studying at
Drepung Loseling Monastic University, Mungod, Karnataka.
[3] He is known as Ling Choktul Rinpoche.
