Because anyone can reduce their body pain in muscles and joints (whether or not they are allergic to Gluten by giving up some or all gluten in their lives if they are over 40 or 50 years of age many people do this.
However, the problem is (because of the basic American diet that moves people generally towards diabetes and heart problems and strokes because of what people eat, there is a tendency of people also to move towards diabetes whether or not they have a family history of it over time, especially people who are low burners (people who get fat and don't stay skinny). Even though this is a much better body type in famines (because you will actually tend to survive off the fat in your bodies). In times of plenty you will tend to get things like heart attacks, diabetes, strokes etc. and die from one of these things.
So, when people 40 or 50 or more go gluten free if they are overweight (at all) it can be a problem because even though you reduce the pain in your body by 80% to 90% you also up your sugar intake considerable especially if you are eating Gluten Free products made of rice to replace what you ordinarily would eat from gluten. Because rice naturally coverts to a much higher level of sugar in ratio than Gluten does (even though Gluten coverts to sugar too but not as much as rice and some other things).
So, since diabetes is much more of a serious problem that can be fatal than body aches and pains be sure to check for sure that you aren't pre-diabetic "Before" you embark on a "Gluten Free" diet (especially if you are over 40 or 50 years of age). (Unless you have Celiac's disease which means if you eat gluten you can die).
So, for example, even though going gluten free helped keep me alive the last 3 years or so while my son moved so very far away from this state, it also may have contributed to my becoming pre-diabetic even though it may have also kept me from getting an auto-immune disease from the Giardia progression since 1985 when I got giardia during my trip to India, Nepal and Thailand. I believe I contracted giardia through feces in the dust in Kathmandu during that time as many roads were not paved and flush toilets were few and far between and there are many domesticated animals dropping feces everywhere too in India and Nepal for thousands of years. Animals aren't all kept in farmlands there and often run wild (even domesticated ones).
So, the slow progression from giardia to a hypothyroid condition to realizing the next step might be an auto-immune disease in this progression led me to become "Gluten Free" but this also might have contributed to becoming Pre-diabetic. So, at a certain point in life likely becoming as thin as possibly along with physical therapy, walking, hiking and weight training with a very good diet likely will allow you to stay as long as possible alive and healthy.
The more you learn the longer you might live about diet and exercise and mental, emotional and spiritual health. This is important to know also. So, studying to stay alive is important at every stage of life if you want to live past 25 or 30.
