Today is my worst day of Jet Lag. My daughter who is 19 was correct yesterday in telling me to try to stay awake when I got sleepy at 11 am yesterday morning. Because the result is that my (one hour nap) lasted until 4:30pm because I just could not wake up. Then when I tried to go back to sleep at 11 pm at night I couldn't so basically I was awake until 6 am when I finally was able to go to sleep again. I asked my wife to wake me up at noon so I could try to stay awake today. However, I'm about as groggy as I get and it makes me feel kind of ill and out of whack.
Last year it took me 30 days to work out my sleep cycle again when I went to South Korea because this is what happens when you travel eastward. Somehow when you travel westward it isn't as bad. Like when I arrived in South Korea I just stay up until about 6 or 8 am California time and started sleeping from 6 am California time until 2 pm California time because this is about 8 or 9 pm South Korea time to about 6 am South Korean time only the next day because they are 16 hours ahead of us in California. So, adjusting there wasn't as big a deal.
But, when you come back while traveling eastward 16 hours back in time this can be awful to readjust I found out last year when I went to South Korea by myself to visit friends.
I'm also having a very rough time today. It feels sort of like a really bad hangover except I don't usually drink at all. (I'll have a glass of wine with friend maybe a few times a year on holidays and that's it.)
So, this is pretty rough and I hope it doesn't get any rougher because I also had an operation this year and now I'm also dealing with a hernia caused by the operation that is basically inoperable so this isn't fun either.
But, it is still better than the alternative which is death.
The last few days I took in stride but today is really awful to deal with. It's sort of like being sick.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
