Many priests, doctors, ministers and counselors and psychologists etc. are natural Shamans.
A Shaman was defined in my Cultural Anthropology Textbook at Palomar College in San Marcos in the 1970s as "Someone who has psychologically died but their body has not died too. Therefore like a dead person they can visit the spirit world as well as live in the physical world."
This definition perfectly fit my experience by age 21 and 22 to the point where I realized I was a natural shaman. What had happened to me had murdered me psychologically to the point where I had died, but my body lives on.
And after I died I had many more abilities (supernatural abilities) that made me in many ways more like a Superman in some ways ever after. So, talking to God as a friend was an all the time thing. Talking to angels always as friends was an all the time thing. Talking to the dead (if I saw it might be helpful to them and not harm me was pretty normal too). However, if you don't protect yourself as a physical being you aren't going to be around anymore.
As time went on I found relatives and friends who knew me and then passed on would surround me and protect me more as angels after they passed because they recognized the value I was to both the living and the dead because of my honesty and compassion for all beings living and dead. So, if you respect the living and the dead this is a good start to this path if you are interested.
So, if you have died but your body still lives you might be a shaman too. It isn't an easy path but you find you often save lives and minds along the way.
