Most of them are your good relatives who have passed over and spent a few years or more on the other side who have learned and adapted to life on the other side (much like what it is like to be a baby and get to be 5 or 10 years of age) on this side.The process is quicker after passing for an adult an usually takes on average around 2 years. However, there are exceptions to every rule.
So, it takes some time for most people to become adapted to heaven realms on the other side.
Then there are "police or soldier" angels like the Archangels who are God's "Enforcers".
Basically, they use their Swords of Sacred Fire to "Instantly return Karma" on people who have done enough bad things to be taken out of embodiment for it. So, they protect the average person from major spiritual harm in this way. Their purpose is less about preventing deaths and more about preventing serious spiritual harm to souls ongoing.
Often they work hand in hand with Law Enforcement here on earth when those soldiers or police have good motivations and are not corrupt.
So, what I am saying here is most angels that tend to be around us 24 hours a day and are closest with us are the same people that raised us or knew us as children that still want to help and protect us as adults and to protect our children and grandchildren too.
By the way this is not just about belief or faith this is my actual experience now every day.
