The internet devalues everything it touches: The case against the online giants
Yes. For example, Amazon is ramping up it's own delivery service. This might eventually put out of business Fedex and UPS delivery services. It's the same with Walmart. Whenever Walmart built a storefront at least 100 mom and pop business in that area of the country were put out of business and many likely had to go bankrupt because of Walmart moving in.
It's very hard for a small business to make a niche that some other bigger company cannot do cheaper thereby putting the original out of business. In the past, this might have been a good thing but now it's just putting all the Mom and Pop businesses out of business nationwide and putting them on welfare if they can't get a job somewhere else.
So, these larger companies taking over the work of all businesses is just creating a welfare state more and more and less and less people own more and more. This is why if you are poor it is better to move to Canada where poor people still get rich. This doesn't happen much in the U.S. any more relatively speaking.
