The weather was perfect the snow conditions were perfect, my boots were perfect and my skis I rented were perfect too. My friends were great I was skiing with and I didn't fall down even once.
The conditions not only were great for skiing it was almost effortless turning (as long as I avoided any shady areas that were not in the sun. These perfect conditions lasted from about 1 pm to 3 pm which was great.
Also, not many people skiing today so there was never a wait at all. So, I skied right to the loading platform and maybe 1 or two people were loading in front of me so no wait at all. I had developed a technique to deal with the ice at the top when you unload from the lift which is to hold onto the right seat handle of the 3 person chair until the last possible moment. This made sure my feet and skis were level to the ground and I was in no danger of falling this way on the icy three foot drop at the top of the lift.
So, no falls at the top of the lift today and no falls on the ice today because I avoided skiing anywhere there was shadow on the snow from the trees in the afternoon religiously. So, a wonderful time was had by all. To top it off we found a new Mexican Restaurant called Don Titos in the joiner road between Mt. Shasta and highway 89 if you go between the two without going on the freeway. So, after skiing we had a great Mexican dinner and also had Sopaipilla
and Churros and flan which we all shared for dessert. We were as happy as little children after such a wonderful day!
Then to top it all off as we were leaving was one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen on mt. Shasta. I asked them if 360 degree sunsets like you see in Colorado and New Mexico were normal in Shasta now and they s Said sometimes this happens now for some reason. But any way you look at it this was a completely breathtaking day in every good way.
