So, why did the life expectancy drop so much by 1948? to 62.9 years of age?
I'm thinking people with PTSD and really bad war injuries from World War II were dying like flies then so this is likely the reason the mortality rate increased in the U.S. Also, somewhere between 600,000 to 900,000 Americans died during the war. Strangely enough most it was Americans living in other countries that died during the war the most not the American soldiers. So, if you were in the wrong country you just died during the war if you didn't get out in time.
But, by 1950 the life expectancy rose again to 65 or around there. So, by 1950 most severely messed up physically or mentally people from World War II worldwide were already dead one way or another. And if they weren't dead by then they likely were by 1955 to 1965 if they couldn't get a living balance physically and mentally going for them to keep alive somehow.
War destroys many lives but not just during the wars. Many keep dying mentally and emotionally until their bodies die ages later.
and it doesn't have to be wars it can be trauma from any cause that can harm people.
But, some people like Saint Francis of Asisi are able to turn around their PTSD and become a Saint and dedicate their lives to the poor and hungry instead. This tends in some people to heal their PTSD because in helping others you also help yourself first. This is just life as it really is.
