The problem of banning Big Tigers and Lions and such from being pets in the U.S.

In the wilds all around the world Tigers and lions are going slowly extinct. Just having them in zoos isn't enough to keep these species going. Poachers are killing them in droves just like they are killing Rhinos and Elephants too, especially African Elephants. Asian Elephants are likely still used for work a lot in Asia so there are likely more of them but African elephants likely are too wild to domesticate for work like Asian Elephants have been. When I was in the Terai of Nepal in 1986 I rode on the back of elephants and so did my family. We also saw White Rhinos there that now are close to extinction. We didn't see Tigers in the wilds then but I was almost killed by a Rhino after shoving my wife up into a tree but somehow I survived as the male Rhino rammed the tree I was in again and again making me wonder if he was actually going to succeed knocking the tree down I was in. But, the joke was on me because my wife had the camera so we didn't even get a good photo of this but the good news is we both survived our adventure unlike many many Europeans and Americans and others who were stomped to death by Rhinos after being split up the middle by their horns. Their killing style of humans is much like a Buffalo here in the U.S. which kills more people than any other animals especially in places like Yellowstone. So, if you go to Yellowstone watch out for the Buffaloes or they will stomp you to death after knocking you to the ground with their heads and horns. This is for real.

But, if you don't let people have tigers and lions as pets in a place as big as the U.S. where there is a lot of wealth then tigers and Lions and other big cats likely will go extinct this century completely in the wilds and only be available to see in zoos and wild animals parks that you drive through and that's all this century.

This is not to say that many people and their children might be eaten or maimed by Tigers and Lions in an unguarded moment. It's just to say that Tigers and Lions are headed towards extinction and if they go extinct humans are next. Because we are both apex predators.
