Just like people all over the U.S. that have gotten vaccinated (especially Pfizer and Moderna) we are on the road first to Mt. Shasta to see friends and then on to Portland to see family. The trip north was nice in that we got to see the sun (Finally) after a very foggy and drizzly two weeks on the northern California coast from High and Low Fog and drizzle. It could be that the June Glooms have arrived 2 months early along with low daytime temperatures as low as 55 to 60 degree highs and lows into the 40s ongoing until August or September along the coast or as Mark Twain once said: "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."
But, as soon as we got out to Interstate 5 or sooner the temperatures and sun were 77 to 79 degrees most of the way north until we moved up into the mountains next to Redding. Even in Mt. Shasta at first the thermometer in my Truck said 72 degrees so we ate at a Mexican Restaurant with Friends outside on their patio which was nice (but it got a little cold before we left).
At the hotel everything was fine except that it felt like about midnight after sleeping a couple of hours that a mouse or rat had grabbed my night shirt and tugged on it which didn't make me feel very comforted about the room and I wasn't moving when this happened. My wife things a part of the night shirt just got caught and then released but I'm not as sure about all this as she is. I looked outside on the veranda and it had been raining already as the storm from the north had begun to set into Mt. Shasta and the Sierras where it is supposed to snow off and on the next few days now.
The weather man on the coast where we live said this kind of late storm that will dump up to 20 inches of snow down to 5000 feet in the Sierras is how people tend to die in the mountains who are tourists who aren't expecting this much snow this late in the year and they get stranded remotely during storms like this one in the High Sierra mountains from 5000 feet on up in 20 inches or more of snow with their cars or hiking.
Anyway it's really nice feeling safe enough to stay in a hotel once again for now at least.
Because India is really sounding scary right now with mass cremations now of the dead in New Delhi from Coronavirus.
