Because stream of consciousness often takes you exactly to where your soul (your individuation) needs you to go.
People think that their normal state of mind is everything. This isn't true at all!
Most of what is important that you need to know to survive another moment or day isn't on the surface of your consciousness at all.
This is why we all watch very LINEAR people self destruct often by accident all the time around us. They think this moment of their consciousness is everything! But, it's not!
What is important is the totality of your whole life from conception to a long life. What is important is all the time you might be alive. So, to completely surrender to some present goofiness you have going in life might end your life while you are still very young.
How I overcame this was by beginning to understand this more fully.
I couldn't really explain all this to my own satisfaction until I had studied the Human subconscious mind.
The human subconscious mind is about 2 to 3 years old emotionally. This is a good start in understanding yourselves. The subconscious never really grows up. It stays the 2 or 3 year old forever.
So, learning to protect your subconscious mind from harm from within or without is very important. For example, PTSD is often when people don't protect their subconscious minds enough to stay alive anymore.
By not protecting your subconscious mind it is sort of like if you had a kid and then sent them into battle at age 2 or 3. Yes. They would be slaughtered like soldiers are around the world in their minds with PTSD.
So, even if their body still works somewhat often they have no real choice but to self destruct through any means available to them.
So, one of the most important things is learning to "Adopt" your subconscious as one of your own children when you get grown up enough to do this and to save your own life in this way.
If you don't do this young enough then suicide might be what awaits many or most people who don't protect their subconscious minds (2 year olds) from the world.
And if you look at suicide rates for American soldiers after they returned from deployment to Afghanistan or Iraq you won't have to go any further than this to know what I'm talking about.
