I remember how envious my cousin who owned a Columbia 22 which slept about 6 people for camping at places like Avalon on Catalina Island which is about 26 miles across from Los Angeles and Long Beach. My wife became a Heavy weather sailor growing and helped maintain the boat for her father growing up too. She was upset by college age when she found out how much he was paying other people for Bright work and maintaining the wood of the boat. She thought she should have been paid some too.
I never got to sail on this boat because I met her after her father sailed the boat. I would very much to ride in a Concordia at least once because I heard what an amazing sailboat they are. My wife's father Sailed in the Transpac from Newport beach to Diamond Head near Honolulu. in 1967 which was pretty amazing for me to hear about too. Because back then you had to navigate by Sextant mostly I think.
Remember these sailboats are wood so they don't tend to last forever unless they are well maintained and even then you have to be careful at this point.
This is why most people sail in Fiberglass Boats now because Fiberglass tends not to deteriorate as fast as wood can. So, in buying something like this you really want to know how it was maintained and it's history. However, if you just love working on Wooden Sail Boats have at it.
