Why I originally started writing online in June of 1999

The 90s (at least from 1990 to 1994) were difficult for me and I divorced my wife after 14 years of marriage. Though I remarried about a year later I realized I was having some health problems and in 1998 I woke up and looked in the mirror and saw my lips were blue and I was having trouble feeling my arms.

So, I called my son to take me to the hospital which he did because my wife had our car and we didn't have more than one then like now. At first the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with my heart from about September or October until May of 1999 and because of this I almost died many times.

However, they did tell me that if I didn't retire I was going to die for sure so I retired in the fall of 1998 at age 50. This was quite and adjustment all by itself.

However, after I noticed my lips were blue that first morning angels came to me and said over and over again in unison: "You aren't going to Die! Your Life will get better now!" And they kept saying this in unison over and over again until every cell in my body believed them. I think them visiting me that day is one of the reasons I'm still alive today at age 76 and living on the northern coast of California with my wife.

I had promised God when I went into Stanford Hospital next to Stanford University that if I survived the procedures that fall of 1998 on my heart that I would start a blog when I recovered from whatever I was going through that year.

So, in June of 1999 I began my first blog at geocities.com

Eventually, Yahoo bought geocities.com and then around 2007 they stopped geocities.com so I bought a yahoo site (dragonofcompassion.com) and I started the site you are presently reading here in fall of 2007.

I liked this website with Blogspot and blogger.com because I didn't have to program everything in HTML unless I wanted to whereas the geocities.com site I had to program everything in HTML which is about 10 times or more harder than using this site.

Over time this site changed somewhat but in some ways it remains what I originally wanted it to be.

I kept my vow to God of writing about Angels and my experiences with God but over time I wrote more about other things I was interested in too.

I knew that the style of this site would help people going through health problems and also psychological problems in their lives too.

So, in some ways this site has been like praying for me since I first started in June of 1999 with geocities.com

I think if you can share your sincere thoughts and still protect yourselves and your families as you blog that you can help mankind survive this century and beyond.

But, it's really important to be very careful of the information you share for hundreds of different reasons.

So, it's definitely not childsplay. It's a very serious thing to share things online and people who don't understand this and share things online willy nilly can easily endanger their families without realizing it.

So, blogging can be very useful to the writer and administrator of a blog and it can also be very useful to one's readers too. But, you have to be very careful that you are protecting yourself and your family and everyone you know or write for in one way or another for this to be really useful.

There was a statement that Tibetan Lamas that were my teachers in the 1980s and 1990s especially had which likely is appropriate:

"Right mindful Compassion"

which is:

The Practical Wisdom of Compassion used in a sensible practical logical way to help the most people possible in any given situation.

So, if you are going to blog it's important to exercise: "Right mindful Compassion" towards everyone including yourself so that your blog benefits everyone including yourself ongoing.

I'm always sincered in whatever I write but often I will realize that people might not fully interpret what I'm saying in a useful way to them. So, often even though I am well meaning I will delete what I write so only good will come to people from my site.

Because even though I am sincere in everything I write people of today might see things differently than a 76 year old man who remembers President Eisenhower and every president since then and whose family didn't have a TV until 1954 so we listened to the radio programs like Gildersleave and Fibber McGee and Molly and things like this until I was 6. years old and my father bought a 17 inch black and white portable TV for the very first time. By 1960 we had a Color TV but not before then because they weren't any good until around 1960.

So, I still try to Honor God and his Angels here at this website and dragonofcompassion.com

By God's Grace
