Though the results are still out it sure looks like one of those two things are coming eventually.
However, on top of this concern is the fact that 90% of the jobs in the U.S. will likely go away because of AI in one form or another within the next 10 years.
So, my concern would be: "How are you going to feed all the people who are going to be jobless because of this?"
Because if you don't feed these people they are going to starve and if they are starving what's to stop them from starting to kill the rich people who still own everything?
Here are some actual facts about this:
begin quotes:
In the U.S., a very small percentage of the population owns the vast majority of the wealth and assets. As of recent data:
- The top 1% of American households own approximately 30% of the nation's total wealth.
- The top 10% of households hold around 67-70% of all wealth.
This indicates a high concentration of wealth at the very top of the economic spectrum.
Breakdown of Wealth Distribution
Wealth
in the U.S. is highly skewed. The latest data from sources like the
Federal Reserve highlight the stark differences in asset ownership:
- Top 1%: Holds about one-third of the total net worth. For context, this group owned $43.0 trillion in wealth as of 2023.
- Top 10%: This group collectively owns more than two-thirds of the nation's total household wealth.
- Bottom 50%: The bottom half of American households combined own a disproportionately small share, approximately 2.6% of the total U.S. wealth.
Asset Specifics
The
concentration is even more pronounced in specific types of assets,
particularly corporate equities and business equity, which are primary
drivers of significant wealth accumulation:
- Stocks and Mutual Funds: The wealthiest 10% of Americans own roughly 87% of all corporate equities and mutual fund shares. The bottom half owns only about 1%.
- Private Businesses: The top 1% of households control nearly 80% of the equity in privately held businesses.
This
data illustrates that while a majority of Americans may have some
assets (like a home or retirement account), the bulk of the financial
"things" in the country are owned by a small fraction of the population.
