I was watching a part of "Forrest Gump(1994) with Tom Hanks

There is a scene in Viet Nam where a bullet bites Forrest in the Butt while he is rescuing his wounded platoon members one by one by picking them up and carrying them out of there while the bullets are flying all over the place. I was wondering why this calmed me and a few days later I realized it was that he was rescuing his buddies so they didn't have to die there alone in the jungles of Viet Nam.

This movie tends to make all of us who actually live through these times for real in our own lives cry simply because it is so touching to so many of us who lived through all this particular kind of Chaos that killed 50,000 of us who were young and still alive then.

If you haven't seen Forrest Gump yet and you lived through this era and were over 15 years old it might be very cathartic (cleansing) to watch this for you too.

Follow (us) @IGHT for the best posts and reels 💜 Tom Hanks’s role as Forrest Gump in Forrest Gump (1994) was shaped by his decision to adopt the soft Southern accent already developed by the child actor playing young Forrest, ensuring consistency in the character. He committed to long days of running scenes and adjusted his physical performance to embody Forrest’s gentle demeanor and simplicity. Hanks has said he took the role because he connected deeply with the script’s sincerity and believed the story carried an emotional truth worth telling. 😂😂 Forrest Gump (1994) is the Oscar-winning film centered on the extraordinary life of Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks), a kind-hearted, simple man from Alabama who recounts his life story while sitting on a bus stop bench. Forrest, guided by profound innocence and unwavering devotion to his childhood sweetheart Jenny, unwittingly becomes an eyewitness and often an instrumental figure in some of the most defining moments of 20th-century American history, from the Vietnam War and the Watergate scandal to the rise of rock and roll, all while repeating the wisdom of his mother: “Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re gonna get.”

My all time favorite movie 🥲 🎬 Forrest Gump (1994) Forrest Gump works because it treats an extraordinary life with complete sincerity. Forrest drifts through some of the most defining moments in American history not through ambition or cleverness, but through honesty, loyalty, and a refusal to harden himself to the world. While everyone around him chases meaning, success, or escape, Forrest simply shows up — running when life overwhelms him, loving when love is offered, and staying kind when it would be easier not to. The film quietly suggests that greatness isn’t always about intelligence or control, but about consistency of heart. In a chaotic world obsessed with progress and noise, Forrest Gump reminds us that decency, patience, and love still leave the longest footprints.

It's an atonal (but effective?) mix of cynical satire and overly sentimental melodrama from a director that doesn't really specialise in either.
