I was watching a documentary called "A Crude Awakening" made in 2006(available for rental on netflix) which is about the end of easily obtainable oil worldwide. The single most important fact that all people on earth need to wrap their mind around is that the ONLY major fields of oil that haven't already peaked are in Saudi Arabia. ALL other fields on earth are on the wane at present and Saudi Arabia might be limited to 12 million barrels of oil a day production according to this documentary.
One of the many factors of the high cost of oil besides constantly increasing demand now is that all other oil fields that are now operating on earth are past their peak and so are slowly diminishing. The best way to say this is that by 2030 to 2050 oil will not be the most available of commodities and will likely be prohibitively expensive for most people and most countries. Alternative energy sources will be imperative in the next 25 to 50 years for most countries to even survive as nations let alone to feed their people.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
