Gabe Zimmerman
I did not know Gabe Zimmerman personally. The first I heard about him was when he was gunned down in Arizona along with Gabrielle Giffords and Judge Roll and others. However, like him I attended UCSC and know first hand how volunteerism and a compassionate helpful attitude is fostered by this university. It is considered the most intellectual of all the UC's in California and when I attended the highest percentage of graduates with a Bachelor's Degree at UCSC of any of the University of California campuses eventually get a master's degree or more as well. This is likely still true today. The school graduates thousands of compassionate people who are a lot like Gabe Zimmerman full of helpfulness and public volunteerism and creativity as both a natural and trained aspect of their ongoing lives. I wish there were thousands more like him in the world and maybe all those who are inspired by his life will see and hear of his martyred life and take heart from the actions of such a good man helping his fellow man the best way he could think of.
