Adele 75 million hits (approx.)
This song kills(hurts) in some ways like no other (at least for those who acknowledge their real feelings)
I was driving my 15 year old daughter home from her tutor and this song came on the radio. I felt like I once did as a young man and some times since where some time you might meet someone like no other. But then, you are either Married with children, or they are with someone else, or your age differences are too great to cross or something. And then this song has real meaning for you once again.
Once I did some thinking about getting with that one perfect someone. And the actual statistical probability is about 1 chance in a hundred to actually get with that person. And, having got with that one special person there is then a maximum percentage of 25% that you will even be happy for 5 years which goes down very steeply from 5 years on.
So, for the average "perfect" fantasy love of any one person you first have a 1% success ratio of even going on one date. Then if you happen to make it through to living together or marriage, you then have a 25% chance of being happy the first 5 years with the probability going only down from there year wise.
However, it is probably a good thing that most people aren't mathematicians or spend their time charting actual probabilities. Otherwise none of us would actually ever be born.
So, I guess what I'm saying is that if you wait for that perfect person you have only a .25 percent or 1/4 of 1 percent chance of getting with them, and staying with them successfully about 5 years. So that means you have a 99.75 percent chance of that not happening. However, you might have a 1 percent chance of getting laid by that person. And then where will you be.
My personal experience is: "You really don't want to sleep with someone that wonderful if you cannot guarantee that you will stay together unless you are interested in committing suicide soon. A 1 percent chance of just getting laid by that perfect person just isn't enough for most people to stay alive on.
Caveat: However, I have found that even though most of you will never even date that perfect person, almost all of you have a 50-50 chance of finding someone good for you and a nice person that you might be happy with the rest of your lives. So, no matter how wonderful that perfect person is they are not worth ending your life over!
However, I suppose there is one more angle about all this. If this truly is the only one for you then likely, "It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all!"
However, that being said, "No one is worth ending your life over!"
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
