Strangely enough, the party of the pragmatists is now the Democratic Party and the party of the idealistic ideologues is now the Republican party. It wasn't always this way. It usually was the opposite until President Clinton. I think he was the first truly pragmatic Democrat even though the argument that Kennedy and Johnson were both pragmatists (especially Johnson) holds some water. After all, Johnson passed the Civil Rights Bill when no one else could. Just like Obama passed the Health Care (Obamacare) bill when no one else ever could do that either.
So, the pragmatists are the Democrats and the Republicans and the idealists. Will wonders never cease? What's next? Nothing is the same as it was. It almost in some ways like you reversed the names of the parties since the 1950s. Very weird! If someone had told me this in the 1950s or 1960s no one would have ever believed it.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
