Though I support the "idea" of stand your ground laws because "If you run away from a potential conflict often you will be shot in the back while running away." But, after studying more about this I am finding that stand your ground laws are almost never fairly applied. For example, if you are a Black man standing up to ANY white man you have almost a 100% chance of going to jail in most "Stand Your Ground" states. If you are a race different than white no matter who you stand up to no matter whether you are a black male or female or any other race than white it is quite likely you are going to jail for standing your ground. However, if you are a white man or a white woman standing your ground likely you will NOT go to jail in "Stand your Ground" states.
So, my conclusion is that if you are not white, "Stand your Ground" laws don't protect you at all and simply make it more certain that a white person can shoot you and since you are dead you cannot be heard in court and that white person will walk scott free like Zimmerman did whether or not he was racial profiling and/or stalking a 17 year old to kill him.
So, "Stand your Ground" laws seem only to be useful to white people defending themselves or stalking and killing someone and possibly getting away with it. Because of the unfair way "Stand your Ground Laws" are enforced it makes me completely question the whole system.
Before I read this information I supported "Stand Your Ground" laws on the belief that they prevented more people in all states from just standing their ground anyway and hiding the body of whichever became deceased. However, now I'm not sure what to think about all this because "stand your ground laws" or Mores have always been the basis of self defense in the U.S. since Revolutionary war days and likely even before that.
