In Victoria we took a 40 minute extended tour of the area along with about 8 or 10 other folks in this Otter Seaplane. They said that Harbour Air in Victoria is the largest all Seaplane company in Canada. The pilot was very Canadian an polite and professional and even took a picture after the flight of my wife and I with the plane that turned out quite nice and we got to see his wife and child who were also visiting then. Taking off in a seaplane was interesting but landing is always the hardest part of any flight for the pilot and plane. Luckily, the evening before sunset we flew there was no wind or waves on the water so it was an incredibly smooth flight and enjoyable for all. Also, being overcast it made the flight not so hot from solar heating as it can get in a smaller plane. At the hotel the photos take a long time to load so I'll see whether I can afford the time to load any more photos or not.
These are pictures of a sister seaplane as we taxied through the ocean for takeoff. It was a great flight, no wind no bumps and not too hot with really great views of the islands and surrounding area.
By the way the plane is landing. The first shot is when it first touches down. The second shot he has to pull back on the yoke to keep from nosing in from the drag of the water. It is a completely different kind of taking off and landing than from a conventional land airport. But, it was quite fun to do this for the first time.
