Rain in California offsetting the drought

I woke up in the middle of the night to something that sounded like rain on the window skylight above my bed. I said to my wife, "Is that rain?" And she being more awake than I said, "Yes. It's rain!"

So, as I check online this morning at radar maps it is raining all the way from San Luis Obispo to Eureka which is a really good thing. Though it is raining lightly where I live it is consistent for many hours now and as I look at the radar maps it is raining really really hard over hundreds of square miles in some areas from San Luis Obispo to Eureka as well. This is a very good thing for Coastal California reservoirs so maybe people will have enough water this summer and fall until the next rainy season that usually starts in October or November here in California.

However, the other way to look at this was what one reporter said recently which is: "Even if it rained every other day from now until May California would still be in trouble in regard to water. Which means even rain every other day likely wouldn't allow farmers to plant new crops in most of California and possibly in Southern Oregon either.
