I was reading Thomas Friedman's piece in the New York Times where he defined ISIS this way and began to realize how right this statement was. It got me to thinking about people who completely reject all governments and all authority in the western world. What do we call people like this? Anarchists.
So, it could be said that ISIS converts are a type of Anarchist but maybe a new kind of Anarchist who believes in an extreme form of religion. But that religion is complete genocide of anyone you don't like. So, in actuality this means ISIS is an anarchistic point of view that kills about 80% of the human race or more wherever it goes.
So, it could be compared to the Mafias of the world. Because often Mafias might kill 80% of the people whenever they can get away with it too.
So, the next time you think about the rank and file of ISIS think about young men who never had a job and never held a girls hand and never are likely to ever either. Because they likely will stay either being warlords killing everyone or they will soon be dead, one or the other very soon.
One could also view this phenomenon as a direct result of overpopulation if you have seen the studies of rats in overpopulation situations where there is not enough food and water for everyone, and in this case not enough jobs for young men to get married where they are from. So, this is what happens in cultures where men can't find jobs and support a woman to be able to marry one that they like. Because in Muslim cultures people don't date, they marry. And if they can't marry or get a job they might join ISIS instead.
So, in this sense ISIS is a cultural aberration partly caused by overpopulation and a lack of jobs.
And this aberration likely will continue to reduce the population in the middle east for some time no matter what anyone does which is extremely unfortunate for anyone living in the Middle East for years to come.
To the point where leaving the Middle East might be the only way to avoid someone you know being killed by ISIS if you live there.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
