Where do all pilots go as a last resort in an emergency? They go to parachutes wherever possible, except in large passenger planes where Airlines don't want to pay for parachutes for their passengers and pilots and stewards and stewardesses. So, in real emergencies everyone dies.
But, all pilots of private planes and helicopters go for parachutes in emergencies. Even men and women in flying suits at the end of their rides usually use a parachute to end their descent in a controlled way after fly falling 10,000 feet or more.
So, what is a paraglider? It is a modified parachute for traveling forwards through the air at speeds of 15 to 45 miles per hour with some control. In other words it is a controllable parachute that can move forward through the air even without a motor. However, with a motor even without any wind at all it has lift and can take off from the ground even with no wind at all.
So, with a motor you can have flights that aren't bumpy at all because there is no wind at all to create turbulence. So, this is another advantage to motorized paragliders because using a paraglider only for gliding can be very very bumpy at times in high winds and up and down drafts.
So, almost any day with low winds or no winds you can go paragliding relatively safely compared to any other flying sport.
Since you are already in the place where all pilots go in an emergency (parachutes) you are in one of the safest flying modes you could be in. (As long as you are a safe pilot and are careful when and where you fly).
And also where can you fly? The answer is: "Often you can fly pretty much wherever small planes can fly." However, you do have to think about how much fuel you have on board, the weather and wind conditions and where will you land and is it safe to land there? And what is your personal endurance in flying that vehicle and landing it considering you are wearing over 60 pounds in motor and fan when you land somewhere. While you are flying likely you won't feel that weight but on the ground when you land you will.
