Philosophy

What is philosophy?

To me, philosophy is about asking questions.

You have to be really really careful about asking questions if it is your minister or priest because this is one of the ways I had to leave the religion I grew up in because they just couldn't answer my questions.

My questions terrified them. So, what happens when your priest or minister can't answer your questions?

You might have to leave your church if those questions are very important to you.

One of the things I learned in college about life here on earth is that:

"IF you can formulate the right questions or right question You might just prevent the extinction of life on earth."

Think about what I'm saying here for a moment.

Imagine humans were lemmings and we all started to jump off the cliffs and into the ocean and swim out to sea without floats or boats. Eventually, we all are going to drown. I sort of see ISIS like this and I also see the Sectarian war between ISIS (and at this point everyone else on earth including all Shiites) this way.

So, more than ever asking the right questions might save the human race an incredible amount of suffering.

So, to me, philosophy is more important than ever because philosophic questions lead to all the sciences.

As we begin to find real answers to our questions (and not fake ones) life becomes possible and probable more and more for the human race.

When I was growing up in the 1950s it was common to die from whooping cough, polio or flying through the windshield of your car if it stopped too fast. All these things have faded away more by people asking questions and creating solutions to those problems and questions worldwide.

But, overpopulation is just as bad now as everyone dying too soon before the 1950s. So, how do we solve that problem?

So, if you are searching for truth don't expect to find truth in any religion. Religion is more about feeling good enough about your life so you don't kill yourself more than anything else. At least Christianity is about that. Other religions seem to be about other things. (Actions speak much louder than words)

Religions in the end aren't about truth you will find.

If you want truth you are going to have to search and find it for yourself. And if you are logical and practical enough you will find enough truth to survive your life.

And if you do find truth please share your truths with the rest of us. Okay?

All of us might not be able to fully understand your truths but some of us likely will.

For some truths are universal and some take a lot of thought to grasp. So, don't be discouraged by people not seeing your truthful realizations.

Truths stand alone by themselves they just need people intelligent enough and brave enough to grasp and use those truths to save the rest of us and all life on earth from extinction.

Enlightenment for you might partly be about religious or mystical thought or spiritual things or it might just be about learning what you need to know to survive your life and to keep your family alive another day, week, month year or a lifetime.

But, philosophy is about asking questions. If you and I stop asking questions then we won't make it very far as a civilization after that.

So, keep formulating good questions. Good questions are even more important than good answers.

IF you ask a good enough question, remember, there are over 7 billion of us now to find the answer or answers to your question. And whether you are alive or dead then if one of us answers an important question it might save the human race on into future if enough people see the truth of it.
