- This series of programs I find interesting. I never chose to live like this but learned many of these kinds of skills because I love being in the wilderness 5 to 10 to 50 miles from the nearest person. However, I'm really not into being as alone as most of these guys are. So, though backpacking and camping and living really remote in the early 1980s was fun for me and my family, we still knew some people that chose to live this remote and off the grid. It just wouldn't be my choice to live like this. However, having these skills you never know when they will save your life one day.If the stuff in cities really hits the fan anywhere you live one day these skills might keep you alive and relatively out of danger. But, I always chose to buy land or rent a house even if I wanted to hike and ski and live really remote with my wife and kids. However, living remotely is possible whether you are single or with a family. You just have to be resourceful and to understand what you are doing.Theory doesn't really cut it. Until you have actual skills and have developed them you really don't want to put yourself into danger until your skills are actually real and not still some kind of fairy tale that you somehow imagine will work for you.If you have never lived off the grid in a house or camping it takes some getting used to and is not for everyone.I would greatly recommend living remotely in a house somewhere and learning some skills before you wander off into the woods alone (possibly never to be seen again).(There's no 911 out there unless you have a charged cell phone with Cell towers within range.)
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
