* Flash Flood Warning for...
Jefferson County in southeastern Texas...
Hardin County in southeastern Texas...
Orange County in southeastern Texas...
South central Jasper County in southeastern Texas...
* Until 915 AM CDT Sunday
* At 121 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a large area of
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area.
Widespread 3 to 6 inches of rain have fallen, with a few location
across Western Jefferson county with 6 to 9 inches of rainfall.
Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Beaumont, Port Arthur, Orange, Nederland, Groves, Port Neches,
Lumberton, Vidor, Bridge City, Silsbee, West Orange, Kountze, Sour
Lake, Nome, Evadale, Central Gardens, Thicket, Saratoga, Hamshire
and Wildwood.
The large area of showers and thunderstorms is slowly spreading
east. Additional rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches are possible in
the warned area through daybreak.

dangers of flooding.

* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 24.0 feet.
* Forecast...rise above flood stage by Monday evening and continue to
rise to near 24.5 feet by Wednesday early afternoon. This forecast is based
upon 72 hours of expected precipitation. Further rises based upon
continued rainfall are possible.
* Impact...At stages near 25.0 feet...Lowest roads beside the river
flood around Deweyville and subject to being closed. In addition,
low-lying roads in Southwest Beauregard Parish are flooded
including Robert Clark Road. Flooding occurs on the south side of
Niblett Bluff Park with access roads to camp houses cut off around
the park. Access roads to the river in Northeastern Orange County
become flooded.
* Impact...At stages near 24.0 feet...Minor lowland flooding will
occur.

Hydrologic Outlook LAZ034>037-039-040-046>050-056>072-MSZ068>071-077-080>082-271300- Hydrologic Outlook National Weather Service New Orleans LA 750 AM CDT Fri Aug 25 2017 ...Heavy rains from Hurricane Harvey may bring area rivers to flood... Hurricane Harvey, as of 7 am CDT this Friday morning, was strengthening while approaching the Texas coast. Currently most of the heavy rain is confined to the West gulf waters, and should continue to be the case for much of today. Harvey should make landfall somewhere along the central Texas coast tonight but then slow its forward progress and become more erratic and less predictable in its track and strength over the weekend. It does appear however that as Harvey slowly weakens, the wind and rain affects will expand several hundred miles from its center. The outer rain bands, and perhaps the larger core of Harvey, will spread into southern Louisiana over time by the weekend and for much of next week. Rainfall accumulations over several days are expected to range from 5 to 10 inches, but depending on where the bands set up and persist, some swaths of higher amounts double these values could occur. This prolonged period of heavy rainfall will likely result in flooding of several rivers and streams in south Louisiana and possibly into southern Mississippi. While river flooding is not imminent at this time, nor likely through early Sunday, river flooding could occur during next week. The river systems with the greater threat of flooding appears to be the Amite-Comite Basin, the Tangipahoa and Tickfaw Rivers, and the bayous and tributaries that drain into the coastal bays of southeast Louisiana. Of lesser threat, but still with a potential of flooding: Tchefunte, Bogue Falaya, Lower Pearl River, and Wolf Rivers. If you live near a river or stream, pay close attention to the latest forecasts and river statements. Currently no flood watches or warnings are in effect. The area rivers have some capacity to handle the first few inches of rainfall, but will swell as the rains persist during the week. Flood watches and warnings may be issued at a later time as the forecast becomes a little more certain and events unfold regarding the future of Hurricane Harvey in coming days.
