I think it's mostly about money.
Many Republicans are being paid to "Shut up!" about a lot of things these days by rich corporate donors. It's not that this doesn't also happen to Democrats by the way. The problem is right now it is the Republicans mostly selling out our country. So, soon we won't have a democracy at all if enough of them keep this up.
We were lucky when Nixon was president to force him to resign because enough members of Congress had enough integrity to cause that to happen. But, with Putin and Trump turning our democracy into a bad Reality show we might be reaching the end of our country as a democracy.
If all you have is a bad reality show, the show just might be a lot of nuclear mushroom clouds all over the world. That could be Trump's last reality show and ours too.
