Shasta
Made it to Mt. Shasta again. Driving up I realized I was having some intestinal issues which could have been from 3 cups of coffee to stay awake driving or something else. But, it was difficult driving up for this reason. Got to Shasta and went out to a Mexican restaurant with friends and then went to room and to sleep. Glad to have made it through many hours of driving to here. Brought some carpeting for friends we didn't need anymore. Since it is all wool carpeting it will keep wherever they put it much warmer this winter. It was sad to see once again the burned spots between Redding and Dunsmuir because they are quite large and might be a problem in the rains soon so the government is grinding up some of the burned and fallen trees into sawdust so it is less likely to create flash flooding onto Interstate 5. They are also using heavy equipment like Bulldozers to terrace areas near the freeway hopefully to lessen mud slides and water flows and rock flows onto the freeway that could cut Interstate 5 between Dunsmuir and Redding because of the large burned area this fall and winter and spring in the rains and snow.
