I don't believe in fate like the Vikings did. In some ways they believed that they had no control in their lives when they died and that they couldn't die until God wanted them too. But, I see this as very fatalistic and not useful in this day and age.
I was raised to be a co-creator with God and this idea has been maybe the most powerful idea I was ever taught. Because I was taught I was a son of God from birth by my parents and as a Son of God or Daughter of God each of us is a co-creator with God.
So, God is both our friend and our parent and we work together to create the lives we live here on earth.
