This doesn't make a lot of sense if you think about it because if homes are gone they obviously don't have power.
But, what does make sense is that when whole counties power is down if your home and solar arrays are still intact you still have power as long as the sun is out. This does make sense.
So, when whole counties in Florida or elsewhere are blown off line with no power, if you have solar power and you have sun then you still have power. AND if you have a battery too you might have power 24 hours a day and not just during when the sun is out as well.
This is a very good advertisement for people who don't want their air conditioning to go off in hot weather throughout the country too. So, we have another reason to have solar arrays in sunny climates which is "Do you want to survive the heat when the power goes off where you are? If so get a solar array and maybe a battery system too so you have power 24 hours a day and not just when the sun is out!"
