Drove towards Hana yesterday

Because we drove north from Lahaina Area on business to Napili we decided to continue to drive north around the north eastern side of Maui yesterday. (It's paved all the way now. NO dirt roads left to travel on the main road. But, you do have to watch out on 1 lane roads and watch out for falling rocks (volcanic usually) from rain erosion whenever it rains so rocks between the size of a fist or larger are common while driving this route mostly to your right up against the bank but you do need to watch for them in addition to oncoming cars headed towards you on one lane roads a lot of the way too.

After this fairly long drive we hit Wailuku and Kahului and continued our drive towards Hana but first visited the best White Tabla Player on earth who has played for Oprah here on Maui in the past for her birthday. (a Tabla is an East Indian type of hand hit set of drums) by the way.

My friend I was traveling with also is a tabla player who studied with a tabla master in Kathmandu, Nepal.

So, then we continued a long ways towards Hana only realizing about 2 or 3 pm that we were too late in the day to finish this trip in the light of day. So, we headed back and visited an old friend from Mt. Shasta at the Twin Falls Nature preserve on the way back into town. Then we went into Paia and had Thai food which is excellent at I think it is called "Thai Spice" or something like that.

After that we went to Costco to fill up our gas tank because that is the best gasoline or diesel prices on the island. It is near the Kahului Airport there in Kahului. Then we headed towards Lahaina side where we are staying.
