My older daughter and I have been trying for the last month or so to come up to Mt. Shasta but it didn't work out until today. I thought seriously about not coming up now simply because we could be stranded up here in Mt. Shasta by a Level 5 Bomb Cyclone hitting most of the state.
However, here it isn't expected to hit that hard. It's mostly from about Eureka south along the coast and South of Redding or Williams where the Level 5 Bomb Cyclone will hit and flood and destroy homes with flooding and wind and knock down trees and knock out power likely for thousands of people across the state.
However, mostly up here in Mt. Shasta it might snow a lot on the mountain. However, there is a winter storm warning for above 4500 feet regarding snow coming down. However, Mt. Shasta city is around 3500 feet so it's mostly raining here right now and 36 degrees as of 1 AM Wednesday morning.
So, hopefully some roads will still be open to the SF Bay Area when we want to travel south again.
Here is the weather here in Mt. Shasta city:
WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM WEDNESDAY TO 10 AM PST THURSDAY ABOVE 4500 FEET... ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO 7 PM PST WEDNESDAY... * WHAT ...
