It isn't a pretty sight and usually the dog is howling or screaming from pain, especially if the quills entered an eye or inside of their mouths. However, if you don't get all these quills out often your dog will die often horribly within 24 to 48 hours because they fight the quills and this sends the quills often up into their brain and this kills them.
So, there are a couple of methods depending upon the dog you need to know about. The first method if your dog is obedient enough is you hogtie your dog so it cannot run away and then you put a round branch or stick across the back of their mouths so they cannot bite you or scratch you. Then you get a pair of pliers to pull each of the quills out. If you leave even one of them in there that the dog can accidentally drive up into it's brain through struggling your dog will die. So, the quicker you can pull all these quills out the better if you want your dog to live through this.
But, you need someone strong to do this because often the quills are driving into bone of the face or head or mouth so you need about a 100 to 150 pound pull to dislodge each quill and likely each time you pull a quill out your dog is going to scream. But, the alternative for the dog is only death. So, you have to be very stoic about all this to keep your dog alive through all this.
But, if your dog isn't obedient while in pain you might need to anesthetize the dog somehow or take it to a veterinarian if you can afford that financially.
I don't know what alcohol will do to your dog but people used to use whiskey for painful medical procedures. But, every dog is different and you need to know how your dog will react to all of this first so you both can survive all this.
