My first serious Term Paper in High School Was on "The History of the Automobile"

I had a lot of fun writing and composing this Term Paper because I was in the era of when Young men and boys sort of worshiped Cars and pickup trucks then. It was the Summer of 1963. I had started likely by then what was called "The 4-4 plan" which was a program for boys who were being trained as Tradesmen then where you went to school 4 hours a day and then you worked 4 hours a day and then you came home and did your homework so you were always very busy during the week and on weekends.

Luckily when I was in 7th Grade I had taken a summer Typing class that summer because of realizing I would need to type to get a better grade in typing my Term papers for High School and College at that time. So, I spent 6 weeks in the summer learning to type with a typewriter that summer. I could type even then after that about 30 words per minute accurately with very few or no errors. However, even then I could type really fast too (with more errors) at around 50 to 70 words a minute too. So, then you used what was then called Correct tape to try to fix any errors then too on the type written page.

So, I remember I had done all the research but then I had to type up many pages for my Term Paper that summer for a history Class I was taking in the summer so I could work during the school year and during the summer part time both times as an electrician or more realistically an Electrician's helper.

Since my father was training me by the time I was 17 years old I could wire a house basically by myself (except you really need two people to pull wire through a flex cable or EMT Pipe usually too one to feed it in and one to pull it through the line with a strong wire you insert down the pipe to the other fellow who feeds the wire into you. So, saying I could wire a house by myself is still sort of true but maybe I should say I could install everything with Drills and boxes and flex cable in Los Angeles County and EMT pipe and knew also how to bend correctly EMT electrical pipe at 1/2 inch in diameter up to really big EMT pipe that you then pull wires through. I had learned to do all this from a Architectural plan for doing electrical work only from architectural drawings my father made according to a plan. But, he was a journeyman Electrician and an Electrical Contractor too in Los Angeles County then too from about 1960 to 1966 or 1968. Then he moved to San Diego where he could make much more money working union as an electrician then and did that until he retired in 1980. I think he was making 30 dollars an hour or more when he retired in 1980 and helped build the Encina Power plant in Carlsbad in San Diego County then.

So, he was IBEW (international Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union in San Diego County.

So, anyway I wrote the History of the Automobile Term paper when I was 15 in the summer on the 4-4 plan in High School the summer after I was a sophomore at age 15.

However typing everything up was a lot and I remember spending all night long trying to type up my Term paper for High school History Class then in High School. So, i thought I might do another research on the History of the Automobile here now too.
