Casey Anthony
The jury said that since it had not been established for sure even that Caylee Anthony has been murdered so it could not be established that Casey Anthony murdered anyone because it was unknown how Caylee Anthony actually died. It is likely that Casey Anthony would be guilty at the very least of neglect but nothing more and even that couldn't be proved because there were no witnesses that anyone knew of. A person cannot be convicted of murder if it can't be established for sure that someone has been murdered in the first place. The jury system worked because it couldn't be proved that Caylee had been murdered and could have died of natural causes like wandering into the swimming pool or worse when there was no one supervising her. If you had been a mother and had for one reason or another been guilty of neglect you likely wouldn't be sane if you found your daughter dead no matter what the circumstances were. The jury had to consider all these things. Another possibility is post partem depression in someone psychologically too young to be a parent. By all her actions Casey Anthony has proven to the world that she may never be mature enough to raise a child.
