"An Intuitive's view of what the Singularity will look like"
Since I often see the future as it happens before it happens it would be useful to call me either a futurist, a profiler, or an intuitive or all three at once.
I had an insight last night because I have been experiencing this as "The most boring summer in years for mankind". What I mean by that is that we are in "Extreme Transition" as a human race right now. It is as if it is the 1930s or the 1890s right now, two periods of extreme transition for the human race. In the 1890s the bicycle turned into the motorcycle, the gasoline reciprocating engine, the diesel engine, the Wright brothers, the car, the plane. It changed warfare and life on earth in World War I, then the Roaring 20s. Then the 1930s were the transition along with World War II for the whole world.
Because of nuclear weapons coming into World War II, World War became obsolete. Everyone knew that if warfare went worldwide again humanity and possibly earth would be permanently over.
Then the next revolution occurred. The computer revolution by bringing external computation to almost all human minds. In other words once this kind of individual mind extension was created it was inevitable that human immortality existed. It was only a matter of when. We are transitioning into human immortality now as a human race. We only have two choices. Extinction through nuclear weapons or immortality. It is interesting to me that these are our only two choices. I would have thought there would have been others but no. These are the only two choices ahead for us.
But what is human immortality? It is easy to say it is beyond the conception of present day humans. But it is we who will build this bridge to the future and we are already building it right now. It just isn't obvious to everyone because most people can't conceive of such a thing.
What I realized waking up this morning is that I have already written about it. I just didn't fully realize it until now. In "Memories part 1
I just didn't see it in terms of "After the Singularity" before. IN this true story about 1,000,000 years into the future there are no "physical humans" left on earth. Arcane comes to Earth from another planet and time and meets Eridian. Since I have been shown that Eridian or "Meridian" is who I become in the future somehow, maybe I can share what the "Singularity" will be like now.
The "Singularity" is something that present day humans are building right now as I write this. They might not fully understand they are creating this "Bridge to the future" but they are right now.
Imagine you and I are the architects of the Golden Gate Bridge to the future. We know we want this bridge to exist but we are still trying to figure out how to put those cement pillars down under the ocean when there are storms. Then we figure that out so we build a giant dam and sink it into the ocean exactly where we want it an then pump all the water out and pour cement where we want it to be. (All the main foundation points). Once we have created the main foundation point then we start bolting metal vertical pieces like an erector set and then we built it up into the sky above the ocean.
Just like now, most of the people who build the Singularity Bridge won't cross it or ride over it to immortality. But their children will. And the Singularity will look different than anything anyone has ever seen or heard before. Just like going into space looked different than anyone had ever seen or heard before. Just as virtual reality worked different than anyone had ever seen or heard before. Just as communication on earth now works different at core than anything anyone has ever seen or heard of before.
The only certainty is that the human race has only two outcomes possible. Nuclear annihilation or immortality for all left alive then. We are all presently moving towards human immortality and our children and their children's children's children will be immortal. What this looks like they will create for themselves. And some of us still alive right now will too.
